Death of Mr. Hattaway Follows Long Sickness

Mr. John Bugg Hattaway, aged 70, died Monday at 12:30 o’clock. He was ill fourteen weeks. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 o’clock Tuesday afternoon from the residence by Rev. W.P. King, pastor of the First Methodist, church of Athens. Interment was in the Watkinsville cemetery, Bernstein Bros., funeral home in charge. The pallbearers were Messrs. W.H. Heygood, William Norville, B.N. Fambrough, R.E. Branch, S.B. Porter, Herschel Breedlove, T.B. Coffey, Dr. O.L. Branch.

Mr. Hattaway was a member of the Methodist church. He was one of the Oconee county’s leading citizens. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Louise Hattaway, a daughter, Miss Susanne Hattaway, a son, Mr. J.B. Hattaway, Jr., two sisters, Mrs. B.E. Thrasher, Mrs. Mary O. Smith; three nieces, Mrs. Annie T. Parham, Mrs. Russell Bobbitt, Mrs. George Wright; four nephews, Messrs Dawson Smith, Grady, B.E. Jr., and Roy Thrasher.
